stability - one of the two variables describing memory traces in learning (the other is retrievability). Stability determines the speed of the negatively exponential decline of memory traces. Stability can be expressed, for example, by the optimum interval in spaced repetition (often normalized for the forgetting index equal to 10%). This term was proposed by Wozniak&Gorzelanczyk to differentiate from the imprecise and all-encompasing term memory strength. See: Two components of long-term memory
