- stability
- one of the two variables describing memory traces in learning (the other is retrievability).
**Stability**determines the speed of the negatively exponential decline of memory traces.**Stability**can be expressed, for example, by the optimum interval in spaced repetition (often normalized for the forgetting index equal to 10%). This term was proposed by Wozniak, Gorzelanczyk, and Murakowski (1995) to help differentiate from the imprecise and all-encompassing term*memory strength*(see: Two components of long-term memory). At each repetition,**stability**increases along the Stabilization function.
