Available buttons

  • Favorites (Ctrl+O) - pick a collection from the list of favorites
  • Contents - open the Contents window with the tree structure of knowledge stored in your current collection
  • Search - search for texts in your collection.
    This button features a context menu. Right-click it to open the menu with the following options:
    • Find elements (Ctrl+F) - find all elements containing a given text. Note that some texts in SuperMemo can be displayed by means of images or OLE objects. Those will not show up in the search. The results of the search will be displayed in the element browser. If you quit the browser, you can always return to the results of your last search with View : Search results. The texts found in the search can also be viewed in the text registry as the first registry subset.
    • Find words - open the lexicon registry that makes it possible to locate individual words used in the collection (except for words used in pictures, OLE objects, etc.). Note that if on-the-fly lexicon compilation is turned off (to speed up SuperMemo), some words might be missing from the list (see: Toolkit : Options : Access : Compile lexicon on-the-fly)!   • Link concept - link the currently displayed element with any concept from the concept registry.
    This button features a context menu. Right-click it to open the menu with the following options:
    • Link concept - same as above
    • List links - list links associated with the current element and display them in the browser
    • Unlink concept - sever a link from the displayed element to a concept
    • Unlink element - sever a link from the current element to another element
    • Create concept - convert the current Element into a new concept
    • Map - display the concept map or the content map for the current element
  • Choose default concept group - choose the default concept group for adding new elements. This button features the same context menu the Link concept button has.
  • Default concept group in the Concept box - displays the current default concept group to which new elements are added (e.g. when you click Add new). This box features the same context menu the Link concept button has. Moreover, when you enter the box, you will open a search selection list which allows you to incrementally search through the collection's concepts without opening the concept registry. Once the concept is selected in the list, SuperMemo will display additional menu with the following concept management options:
    • View the root element of the concept (Enter or double-click)
    • Move the current element to the selected concept group
    • Link the current element to the selected concept
    • View the last element under the concept's hook
    • Close the concept selection list (Esc)
  • Information panel - displays the name of the currently opened collection, the current version of SuperMemo, as well as the path to the collection. Right click over this panel opens the Element menu

Notes

Use a right-click over the information panel on the navigation bar to open the element menu. Note that several toolbar buttons (i.e. Search, Find in article, Search and replace, E-mail, SuperMemo Commander, and Layout manager) have their own context menus. This means that if you happen to right-click on one of those buttons, its own context menu will open
