Here is the Tools toolbar at the control bar at the bottom of the element window:

The Tools toolbar hosts the following controls:

  • Open collection - opens a new collection
  • Quick backup (Shift+F12) - copy the entire collection to a selected backup folder with the current date stamp
  • Find elements (Ctrl+F) - searches for elements containing a given string
  • Web search (Ctrl+F3) - searches the web for the currently selected text
  • Layout manager - open a layout manager that makes it possible to select, apply, save or delete layouts
  • Save layout (Shift+Ctrl+F5) - saves the current position of windows to be uses by default in the future
  • Apply default layout (Ctrl+F5) - restores the default window layout (as saved with Save layout)
  • Calendar (Ctrl+W) - opens the calendar of repetitions
  • Outstanding - opens a browser with all outstanding elements (i.e. elements scheduled for repetition today)
  • Ancestors (Shift+Ctrl+X) - shows a window with the list of ancestors of the currently displayed element. To keep this window on the screen, position it conveniently, and choose Save layout button described above
  • Images - open the image registry
  • Sounds - open the sound registry
  • Tasklists - can open the tasklist registry in order to change tasklist properties (or to choose the default/current tasklist by clicking Accept or pressing Enter)
  • Hints - turn on or turn off displaying hints when the mouse pauses over buttons. In addition, this option affects whether the status bar shows the hints when the mouse pauses over a menu option
